A political legend in South Carolina, 85-year-old John Drummond scared off any serious Republican competition in 2004 but he did draw an interesting and potentially strong opponent in the Democratic Primary that year. His opponent, David Henderson, was a former Greenwood County Councilman who had some name recognition and the experience of past campaigns.
 
Drummond’s campaign hired CRS to conduct a comprehensive phone program that identified likely primary voters and delivered a persuasive advocacy message for Drummond. The calling program also consisted of recalling identified undecideds and activating identified favorable voters with a GOTV call.
 
The results once again proved victorious as Drummond received 69.4 percent of the vote and his status as a political legend was firmly entrenched for the state history books.
